Carlson Wireless Announces Rollout of the SafeTCOM™ Wireless PBX/PA System
ARCATA, CA - Carlson Wireless announces the addition of the SafeTCOM™ Wireless PBX/PA System to its existing line of fixed wireless solutions. The SafeTCOM™ is a point to multipoint digital microwave radio system specially designed for outdoor industrial facility and campus public safety applications that require both fixed phone and PA services. The system is available in unlicensed frequencies 2.4, 5.4, and 5.8 GHz as well as the licensed public safety 4.9 GHz frequency with a range of up to 30 miles.
The SafeTCOM™ radio system includes a single base station with multiple CO line access and seven field systems (CPEs) each equipped with up to two FXS lines. Carlson’s TrueTDM™ plus IP technology assures carrier class quality and complete interoperability with VoIP and legacy TDM systems while also meeting all 911 compatibility requirements. In addition, SafeTCOM™ can easily be configured so that system managers can reliably monitor the system remotely or locally with a Network Management System.
SafeTCOM™ was designed to perform beyond the rigorous communications required by numerous industrial applications. “Our systems are used in numerous industrial and campus facilities including oil rigs, mines, factories, business parks and colleges,” said Bill McBride, Director of Engineering. “What makes the SafeTCOM™ really unique is the ability to provide reliable wireless phone as well as 30 Watt PA connections to your most remote locations.”
“The CPE was designed to withstand rugged outdoor and industrial conditions,” said Jim Carlson, Carlson’s CEO and President. “Unlike a traditional wired system, the SafeTCOM™ system is portable. CPEs can be relocated and reconfigured to adapt to changes in the work environment such as when a drilling rig is moved or a mine expands. As conditions change, CPEs can easily be set up in new locations without expensive wire line replacements.”
The SafeTCOM™ maintains Carlson Wireless’ standard of easy set up, reliability and low cost. “The radio card, the multiplexer, CPU and network interface card are all fully integrated into the CPEs and the base station card cage,” said Chris Spoerle of Carlson’s Quality Assurance Department. “This saves our customers thousands on labor and material costs associated with typical wired PBX and PA systems.”
Because the SafeTCOM™ was designed for remote communications, units require minimal operating power and also accept any DC voltage from 12V to 24V. Solar power kits with up to seven days of backup power are also available.
